Oasis: Organize and Administer Autonomic Policies
Oasis Policy Administration Environment
The Oasis™ Policy Administration Environment is a central library and a set of administrative tools that allow users to direct, control and manipulate Autonomic Policies. The library stores key resources such as policies, ActionPlans, schedules, data sets, scripts, and password/configuration files. It also provides a built-in version control system and a comprehensive drill-down audit trail.
Key features and capabilities of the Policy Administration Environment include:
Role-based Permissions
Role-based permissions allow the assignment of separate privileges for creating, editing, viewing and running automation assets. This ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for separation of roles and responsibilities. It also enables better organizational productivity by empowering front line operations staff with more sophisticated capabilities without proliferating root and admin privileges.
Automatic Documentation
Documentation can be automatically created through Oasis. The documentation is in HTML format and can be easily posted on a Website for anyone to access.
Centralized Editing and Change Control
Centralized editing and change control can be accomplished through object-level access controls, ensuring that modifications are made only by authorized personnel. With centralized storage of all objects, every policy, run anywhere across the enterprise, is guaranteed to be the correct version and have the latest configuration and credential information. This eliminates proliferation of “clear” permissions across the distributed enterprise and ensures consistency and compliance with industry standards and ITIL best practices.

Detailed Audit Trails
These audit trails store all previously executed policies, as well as all changes and modifications. Because a user can quickly and easily “drill-down” into policy configurations, this feature can be used to diagnose problems, assign accountability and train personnel.
