Optinuity’s Technology Selected by France’s Gendarmerie Nationale
French Military Police Force to Use Optinuity’s IT Process Automation Solution in the Creation of Data Center Failover Site
BETHESDA, Md. — February 4, 2008 — Optinuity®, Inc., an early pioneer in the field of IT process automation (commonly referred to as Run Book Automation), today announced that its technology has been selected by France’s Gendarmerie Nationale, a national police force comprised of over 100,000 personnel, to assist with the creation of a new data center failover site. The sale came as a result of a cooperative effort between Optinuity’s distribution partner in France, Advantage Production, and Sun Microsystems/CapGemini France.
Optinuity provides the next generation of IT process automation software used by organizations to implement Autonomic Policy Management around key business systems. Autonomic Policy Management is built on the premise that a majority of operational issues are recurring in nature and can be modelled into automated condition-response mechanisms — or Autonomic Policies. These Autonomic Policies, applied within the applications infrastructure, as opposed to the systems management infrastructure, allow today’s complex business systems to achieve a state of self-management.
“The Gendarmerie Nationale is responsible for policing the entire French countryside and small towns; this amounts to 90% of the country’s territory. They needed technology that would enable them to devote fewer man-hours to simply maintaining their IT systems and use more of their resources to accomplish strategic IT goals,” said Optinuity’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Scott Stouffer. “The fact that an organization with the responsibilities and reach of the Gendarmerie Nationale chose Optinuity to assist with a project of this magnitude validates the importance of our solution, especially when it comes to the need for efficiently managing and optimizing complex and mission-critical computer systems.”
Optinuity’s technology is the first of its kind to allow true proactive management. By sensing and correcting operational issues before users are ever affected, organizations can dramatically improve service levels and application availability. Furthermore, since the traditional exception-handling process can be eliminated altogether, IT shops can free up legions of support staff to focus on core business initiatives.
“The Gendarmerie Nationale required an enterprise-class solution that was flexible enough to be deployed either in a live production environment or maintenance window,” said Khalil Rabehi-isard, CEO of Advantage Production. “Optinuity was the only company whose IT process automation solution provided the levels of scalability, redundancy, recoverability, security and manageability necessary for this critical project.”
